Doktor Uri Nitzan i Qendrës Mjekësore për Shëndetin Mendor Shalvata, së bashku me disa kolegë ka vendosur të analizojë pacientët e vet në lidhje me marrëdhëniet e tyre on line pasi kërkonte të mësonte nëse problemet mendore kishin lidhje me veprimtarinë në Facebook apo marrëdhëniet e krijuara gjatë bisedave on line.
“Daily Mail” raportoi se kërkuesit arritën në këtë përfundim: Personat që janë duke përjetuar ndjesi vetmie si rezultat i ndarjes nga një person i dashur ndikohen negativisht dhe vuajnë akoma më tepër nga “shoqërizimi” on line.
Dr.Nitzan është shprehur “Në çdo rast mund të gjendej lidhje midis zhvillimit gradual dhe përkeqësimit të simptomave psikike duke përfshirë zhgënjimin, ankthin, konfuzionin dhe komunikimit intensiv nëpërmjet kompjuterit.” Njëri prej pacientëve kishte arritur deri në atë pikë sa mendonte që personi me të cilin kontaktonte on line përpiqej vazhdimisht ta prekte fizikisht.
Disa njerëz mund të argumentojnë se këta njerëz ishin më të prekshëm nga krijimi i iluzioneve të tilla duke qenë se ndjeheshin të vetmuar. Megjithatë asnjëri prej tyre nuk kishte vënë re zhvillimin e simptomave iluzionuese para se të fillonin aktivitetin e tyre në Facebook. Problemet kryesore të internetit lidhen me largësinë gjeografike si dhe me mungesën e komunikimit verbal duke rritur tendencën e idealizimit të personit me të cilin po komunikohet. Nuk është aspak e habitshme që kjo tendencë të vihet re edhe tek mendjet e shëndosha.
Dr. Nitzan theksoi se “pëlqimet” në Facebook kanë krijuar “shkëputje nga realiteti”. Megjithatë ky rrjet social është shndërruar në një mjet të kudogjendur komunikimi dhe kjo gjë ka bërë që shkëputja nga realiteti të jetë realiteti i ri. Së shpejti ajo çka po përshkruhet si problem psikik apo iluzion do të shihet si gjendje normale e marrëdhënieve të njerëzve në shoqërinë virtuale.

GCU just completed a $200 million campus expansion project with a 55,000-square-foot student recreation center, an additional dining facility featuring a 6-lane bowling alley, and a 5,000 seat arena that is the new home to the men and women basketball teams.
